The Farmington Hills Police Department is a full-service law
enforcement agency that provides routine, emergency and
investigative police services. In fulfilling this mission, Police
Chief Chuck Nebus has embraced a community policing philosophy,
which has proven very successful in addressing crime and its
causes, and quality of life issues. Community policing involves
forming partnerships between the police department and the
residents and businesses. This alliance identifies problems,
issues and needs, then formulates and implements courses of action
to address them. The department offers an extensive listing of
community policing programs and services.
The Police Department recognizes that great
achievements may be attained when police work with the community
to create a safe and prosperous environment. Almost two decades
ago, we committed ourselves to making Farmington Hills one of the
safest cities in the country. Due in no small part to the
police-community partnership, the City of Farmington Hills
consistently ranks among the safest cities in the country. CQ
Press and Morgan-Quitno Press annually examine the crime
statistics of nearly 393 cities nationwide. Farmington Hills
consistently ranks among the safest. Crime data from 2009, the
most recent data analyzed, revealed that Farmington Hills ranked
as the 40th safest city in the nation and the forth safest city in
Michigan and serious, Group A crime decreased 10%.
