The Department of Planning and Community Development is
comprised of the Building Division, Zoning and Code Enforcement
Division, Community Development Office and Planning Office.
Under the Director, the primary responsibility of the
department is to monitor the City's development and redevelopment
through enforcement of all applicable codes and ordinances. The
department also takes on special planning projects and assignments
as directed by the City Manager and City Council.
Funding for the department continues to be in large part
supported by permit fees and not general tax dollars. The
department provides professional staff support to City Council,
Planning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals, Beautification
Commission, Historic District Commission, Housing Rehabilitation
Loan Board and Building Boards.
