Police Department Hires New Officers

Farmington Hills Police Chief Charles Nebus is pleased to announce the hiring of two new police officers with the Department.  The arrival of the new officers was celebrated with family and friends during a swearing in ceremony held June 9, 2017 at the Farmington Hills Police Department. 
 
Officer Nicholas Tiano previously served with the Phoenix, Arizona Police Department for four years and the Detroit Medical Center Police Authority since September 2016.  He graduated from the Arizona Law Enforcement Academy in June 2002.  Officer Tiano has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Madonna University, a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Michigan Dearborn, and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Urbana University.  During his time with the Phoenix Police Department, Officer Tiano worked as a patrol officer and received certification as a General Instructor, being periodically assigned to the Arizona Law Enforcement Academy.  Additionally, he was awarded the Medal of Merit for his actions taken during a fatal shooting of two police officers, eight Letters of Commendation for exemplary performance, and Physical Excellence Awards during each year of service.
