Farmington Hills Center for Active Adults announces
The City of Farmington Hills offers dozens of programs for area adults age 50 and better at the Center for Active Adults, located in the Costick Center on 11 Mile Road between Middlebelt and Inkster. The Center is open Monday - Friday from 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Lunch is served daily, $2.75 for ages 60 and better, $5 for under 60.
Shredding for Safety
. Tuesday, June 5, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Protect your identity, de-clutter, and recycle! Farmington and Farmington Hills residents 50 & better can bring up to four paper grocery bags of sensitive documents to be shredded. No junk mail or trash, please! Enter Gate 3, remain in your car, and exit Gate 4. No fee.
Understanding Websites and the Internet
. Friday, June 8, 2 – 4 p.m. Whether you’re a beginner or have some knowledge, after this class you’ll feel confident exploring websites and the internet. The cost of your large print, user-friendly instruction book is $25 due at the start of class. Class fee is $20 residents/$22 non-residents.
Hello Summer Picnic
. Thursday, June 14, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Welcome summer at this outdoor picnic lunch with yard games and entertainment at the historic Longacre House. Tickets available in Conway Hall for $8 by June 11, $10 after and at the door.
Space is limited.
. Friday, June 15, 12 – 3 p.m. After a delicious lunch, enjoy the movie “The Post” with candy, popcorn, and a drink. Fee is $5 in advance, $7 at the door.
. Tuesdays, June 26 – July 31, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. This six-week workshop features fun, interactive sessions on healthy eating, nutrition principles, and being self-sufficient in the kitchen presented by culinary experts and nutrition instructors from Beaumont Hospital.
Several support groups are also available including Caregivers, Grief and Loss, and First Step Stroke. The Center also offers many clubs that meet regularly including Computer Forum, CFAA (Cycling for Active Adults), Heritage Hikers, and the Red Hat Society.
