Weight Restrictions for Commercial Vehicles
The
Farmington Hills Police Department has been notified by the
Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) that the seasonal
weight restrictions will start at 6:00 AM on March 10, 2010.
This has no effect on passenger vehicles and only pertains to
commercial vehicles.

 Spring
Yard Waste Pickup Resumes Monday, April 12
Yard
waste collection will resume in the City of Farmington Hills
on Monday,April 12. As of that date, all yard waste placed at
the curbside in acceptable containers will be collected by the
yard waste truck on the regular garbage day.

Hills Participates in Earth Hour 2010
The City of
Farmington Hills will affirm its commitment to environmental
responsibility by participating in Earth Hour 2010. All
non-essential indoor and outdoor lighting on City-owned
property will be turned off from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM on the
night of Saturday, March 27.

Arena Offers Learn-to-Skate Classes For “Future Olympians”
Starting March 29
Many Olympic medalists have
shared inspiring stories of how they got their start at
neighborhood ice rinks. Ice Dancer Emily Samuelson of Novi,
who competed in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, was
once a Learn to Skate student at the Farmington Hills Ice
Arena!

Hills Center for Active Adults announces March programs
The City of Farmington Hills offers dozens of programs for
area adults age 50 and better at the Center for Active Adults,
located in the Costick Center on 11 Mile Road between
Middlebelt and Inkster. The Center is open Monday - Friday
from 9:30 AM - 3:30 PM. Lunch is served daily, $2.75 for
ages 60 and better, $5 for under 60. Here are just a few of
the programs available in March.

Hills Launches Energy Efficiency Incentive Program
The City of Farmington Hills received funds this fall through the Department
of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program (EECBG).
Funding for this program was made available through the American Recovery
and Reinvestment Act signed into law February 17, 2009.
